Concerned about the underbelly of their future home, they sought the expertise of The Clean Air Co., whose evaluation revealed a mishmash of insulation missteps and moisture incursions. Notably, the foundation walls were inappropriately sheathed in rolls of fiberglass insulation, a method unsuitable for spaces with venting floors.

Compounded by water seepage, this setup fostered an environment ripe for musty odors and mold proliferation.

Solution:

Our intervention began with the meticulous removal of the damp and damaged fiberglass batting, an essential step to halt the moisture’s detrimental effects. To counteract the issue of water infiltration, we installed vent wells around the foundation vents that lay below grade, effectively barricading the crawl space against further seepage.

Our strategy’s cornerstone was deploying a robust vapor barrier, designed to sever any connection between the crawl space and the earthen floor beneath, ensuring a dry and sealed environment.

The transformation culminated in the replacement of the worn plywood entry door with a state-of-the-art, weatherproof crawl space door, epitomizing maintenance-free access.

This comprehensive overhaul not only rectified the immediate issues but also safeguarded the home against future moisture-related challenges.
