Problem:
The views from the back patio of this hillside Franklin home are some of the best to be found in the Williamson County area. However, the views from the crawl space needed some beautification. Falling insulation, water seepage, and rodent activity were all issues plaguing the crawl space under this otherwise pristine Franklin home. A moisture damaged wooden crawl space door was letting water and rodents enter the crawl space, unbeknownst to the homeowners. Minor water seepage was adding up to major humidity problems. We collaborated with the homeowner to put together a targeted repair plan.
Solution:
We started by removing all of the moisture damaged fiberglass insulation from the overhead floor system. We then sealed and insulated crawl space vents, preventing entry of hot, humid air (summer) and cold temperatures (winter). Next, we installed a puncture and tear resistant vapor barrier and energy efficient dehumidifier. Lastly, we replaced the deteriorating wood crawl space door with a solid, weather-resistant door, guaranteed to keep out moisture and pests. Now, the views from anywhere around this house (even underneath) are simply stunning!
